Once a year, Lena Wäppling's Foundation announces funding of scientific research in gynecology, primarily to diagnose and treat ovarian cancer. Applications can be sent in during the period from October 1st to December 15th each year. 

The number of grants awarded can vary. One grant per year is awarded to a junior researcher (max 5 years since PhD at the time of application). Thanks to our generous donors, there has been a positive growth in the total grant sum. In 2024, 1.2 million SEK could be awarded.

The Scientific Committee of the Swedish Society of Obstetrics and Gynecology is responsible for the medical review of applications received and submits a recommendation to the Board of Lena Wäppling's Foundation for decisions on allocation of funds.
